The Procedure

The Same Day Teeth Journey

The Same Day Teeth TMprotocol is a revolutionary procedure using dental implants for the replacement of teeth in a single day. This procedure offered by Same Day Teeth Clinic in Perth is both quicker and more efficient than traditional dental implant placements. Having only one surgical appointment not only reduces anxiety and stress but invariably leads to a better healing and outcome.

1. CONSULTATION AND TREATMENT PLAN

The first appointment involves an evaluation of your oral health. We require diagnostic records to be able to accurately diagnose your dental problems and make appropriate recommendations. We will take intra-oral and extra-oral x-rays, cone beam scans, and clinical photographs. We carefully assess your suitability for the Same Day Teeth TM procedure and discuss any concerns you may have. Every individual is unique and we make sure that the advice and recommendations we give are appropriate for each individual, both clinically and financially. Your options and costs will be presented to you in a Treatment Plan for you to consider and accept. In some instances this may require a second appointment.

2. ARRIVING ON THE DAY OF YOUR SAME DAY TEETH TM SURGERY

Our friendly reception team will greet you on arrival and the clinical team will discuss any final concerns you may have. We aim to make you feel comfortable and completely informed about the plan for the day.

There are various forms of sedation. If you have requested anti-anxiolytic medication, you will be settled in our comfortable relaxation lounge for approximately 60 minutes before your implant therapy begins.

If you have chosen IV anaesthetic for the procedure, you can arrive 15 minutes before your surgery time to complete your consent paperwork and meet with our anaesthetist.

3. THE PROCEDURE

In the majority of cases, there is only one surgical appointment. This reduces dental anxiety, speeds up healing, and minimises disruption to your daily life. Surgery includes extractions, any grafting and implant placement. Once surgery is complete and the implant(s) are positioned, new impressions are taken of your jaw. These are immediately sent to the onsite laboratory. Your prosthetic teeth are then ready to be moulded and crafted whilst you return to our recovery lounge to relax.

4. THE FIRST LOOK

Later that afternoon your new teeth will be inserted. When you leave, you will go home with your dental implants and masterfully crafted teeth attached. They will look, feel, and function like natural teeth.

Please note that because of the after effects of sedation you will need to be accompanied when you leave.

5. POST-OPERATIVE CARE

Following surgery you will need to follow post-operative instructions to assist speedy recovery.

  • A post-operative appointment will need to be booked approximately 1-2 weeks following the surgery so your dental professional can assess the healing and remove any sutures.
  • You will need to go on a soft diet for the next 4-8 weeks to ensure that the newly inserted dental implants are not overloaded and we will monitor your healing closely over the next 3-4 months to ensure optimal recovery and healing.

6. THE FINAL PROSTHESIS

Depending on your requirements, the final prosthesis may be fitted within 24 hours, or you may choose to continue wearing your temporary or provisional prosthesis for even up to one year. Your final or definitive prostheses will be designed to your specification and made by our master ceramist specifically for you.
